Opel revealed the first official pictures and information of the new Opel Astra OPC generation – Vauxhall Astra VXR for UK. The German model gets 280 horsepower, 400 Nm and a chassis tested on Nurburgring.
Opel – Vauxhall fans can exult. The German manufacturer has released the first official pictures and information of the new Opel Astra OPC – Vauxhall Astra VXR, the hot-hatch that will try to steal the crown of the already “dedicated” models such as Renault Megane RS or Ford Focus ST.

The highlight of the new Opel Astra OPC - Vauxhall Astra VXR is under the hood, where lies a four-cylinder engine, 2.0 liters, capable to develop 280 horsepower and 400 Nm. All resources are channeled on the front axle via a manual gearbox with six reports and throws the compact performance version from Russelssheim in a league where we find its countrymen Volkswagen Golf R and Volkswagen Scirocco R.
Opel has not officially published the time required for the new Opel Astra OPC – Vauxhall Astra VXR to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (0-60 mph). Maximum speed is, however, as expected, 250 km/h (155 mph).
We have important news regarding the chassis. The new Opel Astra OPC – Vauxhall Astra VXR generation receives a powerful braking system, signed by Brembo and the fully customizable FlexRide system, available with three settings: Normal, Sport and OPC. The latter offers a sporty ride-oriented and for running on the circuit.
In the press release, Opel insists that the Opel Astra OPC – Vauxhall Astra VXR chassis settings was made on the ??famous Nurburgring circuit and was supervised by Jo Winkelhock, winner on the 24-hour race at Le Mans. Winkelhock said: “We’ve put up a great package that will convince even the most enthusiastic sport pilot. And not only on the Nurburgring.”

At the visual level, Opel Astra OPC – Vauxhall Astra VXR adopted a series of accessories that define much better the sporty character: new spoilers, side skirts, a roof spoiler, chrome exhaust with two trapezoidal terminations, a rear deflector and a more pronounced bosses.
On the Opel Astra OPC – Vauxhall Astra VXR interior the clamshell sport seats couldn’t miss obviously with the OPC logo embroidered on seatback, a sports steering wheel and new board instruments.
