Alguersuari, focused on scoring more points in Abu Dhabi

Alguersuari now travels to the UAE with the constructors' championship in mind. The Spanish rider, decisive in the final race for Sauber team equaled the seventh position in the championship, wants to keep adding in Abu Dhabi to keep alive the battle and continue to cut the gap with Force India. Jaime Alguersuari viaja en estos momentos hacia los Emiratos Árabes con el mundial de constructores en la mente. El piloto español, decisivo en la última carrera para que su equipo igualara a Sauber en la séptima posición de este campeonato, quiere seguir sumando en Abu Dhabi para mantener viva esa batalla y seguir recortando las diferencias con Force India. El año pasado ya fue el único Toro Rosso en llegar a los puntos tras una épica batalla de más de media carrera con el Ferrari de Felipe Massa.
La Fórmula 1 visita por tercer año el espectacular circuito de Abu Dhabi, situado en el desierto de los Emiratos Árabes Unidos. Jaime Alguersuari, ya presente en las pasadas dos ediciones de la carrera, afronta esta nueva edición con el top diez en la mente. Las evoluciones experimentadas en el STR6 en las últimas pruebas mantienen al equipo en franca progresión en esta fase final del campeonato, lo que les sitúa en una posición impecable para luchar contra Sauber y Force India en el mundial de constructores.
Para lograrlo, la clave en esta cita será la correcta gestión de las gomas. Una de las peculiaridades de este circuito es la anómala progresión de su asfalto, que mejora a nivel de grip a medida que avanza el fin de semana pero que, además, va evolucionando conforme pasan las vueltas de carrera. Esta última circunstancia fue clave en la actuación de Jaime Alguersuari en 2010, ya que entre el descenso de temperatura que lleva asociado la llegada de la noche y la acumulación de goma en la pista permitieron alargar durante muchas más vueltas de lo previsto el stint único con neumáticos blandos del español. En este sentido, Pirelli ha desplazado a Oriente Medio el compuesto medio y blando.
La segunda gran preocupación en esta pista es la carencia de adelantamientos, que se espera mejore este año con la habilitación de una doble zona de DRS.
En la memoria de todos, la épica batalla de 2010 contra Felipe Massa que le valió a Jaime el noveno puesto y dos puntos de oro para rematar un buen final de mundial. El objetivo este año es más ambicioso, y la recompensa para el equipo promete ser mucho mayor, ya que el bonus en juego es muy jugoso. El trabajo arrancará siguiendo horarios europeos desde el viernes, con los entrenamientos oficiales y la carrera previstos a las dos en punto hora española, las cinco de la tarde en Abu Dhabi.
