Nico Hulkenberg is in talks with Force India about a possible race seat for the 2011 season according to his manager, Willi Weber.
Despite an impressive showing in his rookie season, Hulkenberg found himself surplus to requirements at Williams with GP2 champion Pastor Maldonado set to be confirmed in his place. With Renault also looking likely to confirm Vitaly Petrov for next season, Force India looks like the German's best option.
"There are currently some talks," Weber told Sport1.de. "There are still options, but not too many."
One big factor that is likely to have led to Hulkenberg's Williams exit is the sponsorship money that Maldonado will bring to the team. But Weber ruled out doing the same for Hulkenberg to buy a seat elsewhere.
"If you bring money to a F1 team, then that's what you do for the rest of your life."
Should the Force India seat fail to materialise, there are other options for Hulkenberg, including a reserve drive with Mercedes.
"That would be a plan B, with the assurance of sitting in the car in 2012," said Weber.
