EURO NCAP UPDATE
China has yet to impress
The Landmill CV9, a Chinese-made mid-size MPV, received only two stars for overall safety in the latest round of crash tests conducted by Euro NCAP.
The leading Europe-based safety campaigner said the CV9 lacks safety equipment, although it believes that cars coming out from China, India and other emerging markets will catch up in the next few years.
Meanwhile, the Jaguar XF bucked the trend by being the only luxury model to not get the five-star maximum rating. Euro NCAP noted that adult and child protection in the XF could have been better. Jaguar is reportedly said to be looking into the issue, although it insists that the car has been developed to stringent safety standards.
The other two cars to get four stars out of the total 14 crash-tested include the Nissan Micra, known as March in Thailand, and Volkswagen's Amarok pickup.
