Glock 99.9% sure of Virgin stay
Timo Glock has revealed that he is almost certain to remain at Virgin Racing for the 2011 season.
Glock, who joined Virgin after Toyota's hasty exit from the sport, was not included in the FIA entry list released on Tuesday, with both of the team's drivers marked as 'to be confirmed'. However, the 28-year-old is almost certain that he will be staying put.
"I'll start the new season with Virgin, it is 99.9% sure," Glock told Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitun.
Glock endured a frustrating 2010 season, but the German concedes that one could not expect too much considering the team had very little time to prepare for the season after their entry into the sport was confirmed.
"We lost three or four months of development time and weren't able to work on basic things so our car was slow in comparison to our opponents," he explained.
"I knew what I had gotten myself into. Every driver wants to win, but you can't expect a team that starts with a blank sheet of paper to get them straight away."
Virgin have been boosted by a new partnership with Russian company Marussia Motors, and Glock is hopeful that this financial injection will allow the team to be more competitive next season.
"We can now increase the team and perhaps develop the car better. We can collect more data, evaluate and accelerate the car so that we can maybe make up that one or two hundredths of a second," he added.
