Rosberg confident of race win
Nico Rosberg is certain that he will stand atop a race podium during the 2011 season.
The Mercedes GP driver claimed three third place finishes last season - his first year with Mercedes - and the German reveals that the team are entering 2011 confident that they will be able to win races.
"That's the mindset definitely," Rosberg told Autosport.
"It's not easy for us because from where we were in 2010, it's not so straightforward to make that jump because everyone else has a headstart. It's difficult, but it's achievable. We need to wait and see."
Merc GP team principal Ross Brawn believes that once the 25-year-old wins his first race, there will be no holding him back.
"He's a quiet driver in the sense that you don't see many flamboyant actions on track," explained Bawn.
"But when he gets past someone, he's good in terms of overtaking. He just gets on with it and maybe that hasn't captured the public's imagination. Once he wins a race, which he will do, that will change."
Much of the discussion involving Rosberg last season revolved around his battles with team-mate and seven-time World Champion Michael Schumacher, and while the younger of the two Germans came out on top, come are still sceptical of Rosberg's abilities. However the former Williams man in is unperturbed by his doubters.
"That's probably the case in the media, but I am not really concerned about that," he explained.
"For me, it's important that I have a better car next season and I am able to win races.
"Career-wise, it is important that the people who make decisions in F1 see my performance and I think that, to them, my performance has been evident this year [in 2010]. They have seen that I have done a good job," the German added.
