Samsung sees component shortage continuing in 2011
(Reuters) - Samsung Electronics Co expects the tight supply of handset components will continue and may prevent handset makers from dramatically upgrade their premium product offerings, a top executive said on Thursday.
"Components, especially advanced displays, are in tight shortage and the situation is likely to continue in the first half and may start easing from July," JK Shin, head of Samsung's mobile division told Reuters at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
"Consumers are increasingly demanding better quality screens and features but the production can't just meet up with their expectations."
