FDA - Happy birthday Sergio Perez!
Maranello, 26 January – Sergio Perez, the talented young Mexican who recently joined the Ferrari Driver Academy, turns 21 today. Sergio is part of the programme Ferrari created to bring on a new generation of race drivers. This year he will be racing for Sauber, making his Formula 1 debut in the Bahrain GP in a Ferrari-powered car. Perez began his career in the United States, in the Skip Barber National Championship and in 2005 moved to Europe, doing two seasons in the German Formula BMW series, before flying the flag for Mexico in the A1 GP championship. That same year, he took the British national Formula 3 title and in 2008, he won four races in the same series, finishing fourth overall. At the end of 2008, he moved up to GP2, where last year he had a very successful season, taking a well deserved second place.

Maranello, 26 gennaio - Sergio Perez, giovane talento messicano recentemente entrato a far parte della Ferrari Driver Academy, compie oggi ventuno anni. Sergio fa parte del programma che la Ferrari ha creato per far crescere una nuova generazione di piloti e sarà impegnato da questa stagione come pilota ufficiale della Sauber, facendo il suo esordio in Formula 1 nel GP del Bahrain su una monoposto motorizzata Ferrari.
Sergio Perez ha iniziato la sua carriera negli Stati Uniti, correndo nel Campionato Nazionale Skip Barber e nel 2005 ha cominciato la sua avventura in Europa, disputando per due anni la serie tedesca della Formula BMW, prima di difendere nel 2007 i colori del Messico nel campionato A1 GP. Lo stesso anno si è poi imposto nella classe nazionale della Formula 3 britannica mentre nel 2008 ha vinto quattro gare della stessa serie, piazzandosi al quarto posto nella classifica assoluta. Alla fine del 2008 il suo passaggio alla GP2, dove l’anno scorso è stato protagonista di una stagione ricca di successi conquistando un meritato secondo posto.
