Button senior has a senior moment

It's a tough life for John Button © Press Association

You know what it's like. You park your car, go out on the town and then a few hours later you forget where it is.

When that happened to Jenson Button's 65-year-old father, John, in Monaco called the police and reported his £150,000 Ferrari had been stolen. He said he had parked it outside his hotel and it has disappeared. As the authorities immediately started to hunt for the vehicle, Button senior hitched a lift back to his home in Monte Carlo with his son.

However, 24 hours later the car was found undamaged, parked a mile or so further along the seafront.

"There was no damage to the lock or windscreen," said a police spokesman. 'He says he parked it outside the hotel so it's all a bit of mystery but we are trying to clarify how the car ended up where it was and whether he may have forgotten where he parked it originally."
