Changes at the top for Virgin
Virgin Racing have undertaken a boardroom shake-up ahead of the new Formula One season.
The team have introduced a number of new roles to ensure they have strength in depth, the most notable of which sees former chief executive Graeme Lowdon become team president and sporting director.
Nikolay Fomenko, president of Russian sportscar company Marussia Motors who last year became the team's title sponsors, has assumed the role of engineering director.
Fomenko will provide overall leadership for the team's technology programmes, covering race car development, engineering and collaboration with Marussia's road car programme.
Stepping into Lowdon's old role of chief executive is Andy Webb, Marussia's UK managing director, who will focus on the executive management of the business.
One of the stalwarts of the F1 paddock in Ian Phillips, who has worked in the sport for many years with Jordan and Force India, becomes chief operating officer.
Regarding the range of roles and appointments, Virgin Racing chairman Darryl Eales said: "The changes, together with Marussia's wealth of knowledge and experience, provide us with a solid foundation as we enter our second season.
"I believe we are very fortunate to have such depth of commercial and racing leadership as we embark on the next step in our ambitious plans for the team."
