Manager: Kubica coming to terms with injury

Robert Kubica's manager Danielle Morelli says the Pole is slowly coming to terms with his injuries and the fact he will miss some, if not all, of the F1 season.

His manager explained the situation to the 26-year-old after he was awoken from an induced coma. According to Morelli, Kubica was shocked, but understood the consequences.

"I told him about the accident, and the extent of his fractures and injuries, and Robert was shocked, I'm deeply affected," O Estado de S.Paulo quote Morelli as saying.

"He understood that he'll be out [of F1] for quite a long time and he is suffering with that."

Whilst this may come as bad news, the former BMW-driver has shocked doctors with the positive signs of recovery.

"We are happy because 12 hours after the accident, the question was whether Robert would survive. When he reached the hospital his situation was critical," said Morelli. "And now he is already projected to be leaving the ICU."

Meanwhile, Morelli highlighted the fact that his client had competed in 12 rallies without any problem, before realising that this rally was his 13th - a number which is thought to be unlucky and is skipped when it comes to driver numbers in F1.

"Robert loves rallying. He has competed in 12 so far without any problem. Indeed, I had not thought about it, this looks like it was our 13th rally."
