Schumi confident of podium results
Michael Schumacher says he's chasing "regular" podium finishes this season as Merc GP continued the process of building towards a Championship run.
Schumacher returned to Formula One last season after three years away from the sport. And although there were moments of brilliance from the seven-time World Champ, there were also signs that he had perhaps bitten off more than he could chew.
The German failed to reach the podium throughout last year's Championship and was soundly beaten by his team-mate Nico Rosberg, who did managed to achieve top-three results.
This year, though, Schumacher is adamant the podium awaits - and maybe even a race win or two.
"Finally the waiting is over and things get started," he said at the launch of Mercedes GP's new W02.
"For us drivers, the break every year is hard to take because the gap between the last race and the first time out on track seems to be never-ending.
"Even if I have been involved and updated all winter on the developments, and even if I know the improvements are significant, it is still different to see the new car literally for the first time in front of you.
"You automatically build up this nice pre-start tension. I very much look forward to the new season.
"We have said it several times already but again, we are really to building up something big together. I am very confident that this season we will be standing on the podium much more regularly; ideally in the middle!"
