Music on the beach

Go to Pattaya and shake your stuff. The annual Pattaya International Music Festival returns to country's famous beach from March 18 to 20 and, as always, features both Thai and international bands. Drawing tens of thousands to the resort to party, the event also offers food and floral floats, beauty contests, stalls selling local delicacies and a spectacular fireworks display on the beach.

A flair for travel

Want to travel, but don't know where to begin? Set forth for Bangkok's Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre, and get inspired at Thai International Travel Fair 2011. Running from tomorrow until Sunday, this festival brings the airlines, travel agents and hotel and spa operators to meet the clients. You'll also find special holidays and high season package tour.

Birds of a feather

Bird-watchers take note: the coastal province of Samut Sakhon is hosting Mangrove Birds Festival in this Sunday, February 27. Dominated by coastal landscape, mangrove and salt farms, Samut Sakhon is a "sweet home" for flocks of wetland birds. Budding ornithologists can take a long-tailed boat, enjoy nice views of the salt farm and make friends with the birds of different feathers flocking together. Call the local bird-watcher's club at (087) 082 8486 or TAT at (034) 75 2847-8 or e-mail: tatsmsk@tat.or.th.

Food for thought

Over the coming months, Six Senses is hosting "slow food" dinners with talks by world's famous adventurers Tom Avery, Patrick Woodhead and Olly Steeds. As you wash down your lobster soup with fine, chilled Chardonnay, the special guest tell you what will happen to Antarctica in 2041 or what makes 30,000 species become extinct each year. The series "Exploratory Talkers' Tables" will take place at Six Senses' flagship Soneva resorts - Soneva Fushi and Soneva Gili in the Maldives and Soneva Kiri in Koh Kood, Thailand.
