"I wanted to create something that I could do in my bedroom, and I knew that it wasn't going to be sex. Although I'm really good."

– Harry Knowles, on why he founded Ain't It Cool News, the influential movie-news website, 15 years ago last month.

Knowles spoke on a SXSW panel with other AICN staffers who traded stories about the pioneering site's decade and a half of celebrating and slamming movies and TV shows.

Among the highlights: recurring jokes about the awfulness of "Batman and Robin," a story about how the Farrelly brothers hired one of Knowles' writers after he panned an early rough cut of "There's Something About Mary," and another about how Knowles' father Jay came up with the Ain't It Cool name (it's a John Travolta line from "Broken Arrow") as a joke.

"What's it matter?" he supposedly told his son. "Nobody's going to read it anyway."
