Tyre allocations for Turkey, Spain & Monaco revealed

Pirelli have announced which dry-weather tyres will be available to the teams at the next three rounds of the 2011 FIA Formula One World Championship.

At the forthcoming Turkish and Spanish races hard and soft tyres (as prime and option respectively) will need to be used, while at the Monaco Grand Prix the soft tyre will be the prime and the super-soft compound, denoted by red markings, will make its debut as the option tyre.

“We’ve considered carefully all the circuit characteristics in order to help provide races as exciting as all the Grands Prix we have seen so far this year,” Pirelli’s motorsport director Paul Hembery. “We’re very much looking forward to Monaco in particular, where we will see the supersoft tyre in action for the first time. It’s quite a different tyre to the rest of the range and should be very effective around the streets of Monte Carlo.”

The Italian manufacturer’s entire range will benefit from new markings from the Istanbul Park event onwards, which have been designed to increase visibility of the six colours that distinguish each of the PZero tyres.

Tyre compounds for the 2011 season:

Australian Grand Prix (Melbourne) - hard (prime), soft (option)
Malaysian Grand Prix (Sepang) - hard (prime), soft (option)
Chinese Grand Prix (Shanghai) - hard (prime), soft (option)
Turkish Grand Prix (Istanbul) - hard (prime), soft (option)
Spanish Grand Prix (Barcelona) - hard (prime), soft (option)
Monaco Grand Prix (Monte Carlo) - soft (prime), super-soft (option)
