GP2 – Bianchi sixth in Monaco free practice

Monaco, 26 May – The GP2 series competitors made the same trip as their Formula 1 counterparts, coming to Monaco from Spain for the third round of their series, running this weekend at this most famous venue on the calendar. Lotus ART’s Jules Bianchi, the youngster who is part of Maranello’s Ferrari Driver Academy set the sixth best time (1.23.707) on this unique street track, in the one free practice session on the timetable. Quickest was Romain Grosjean who did a 1.22.368 for the DAMS team, ahead of Racing Engineering’s Dani Clos (1.23.509) and Stefano Coletti in the Trident Racing car (1.23.547.) Qualifying to decide the grid for tomorrow’s first race takes place at 16.15 today. However, wherever he qualifies on the timing sheet, Bianchi will drop five places as a result of penalty imposed by the stewards for causing the collision with Giedo van der Garde, in last Sunday’s sprint race in Barcelona.
