Monaco GP - Alonso second, Massa fourth as Monegasque weekend begins
Monaco, 26 May – The sixth round of the Formula 1 World Championship got underway with this morning’s free practice session, in the build up to Sunday’s race around the streets of the Principality. Sebastian Vettel was fastest for Red Bull around the twisty track, which at 3.340 km is the shortest of the season. The German’s best time was 1.16.619 and he was followed by Fernando Alonso who did 1.16.732 in the Ferrari and Nico Rosberg (1.17.139) in the Mercedes. In the other 150º Italia, Felipe Massa was fourth in 1.17.316. Both Ferrari men did 24 laps, each using only one set of Prime tyres on a track that was as slippery as ever for its opening session. They ended the morning with a practice start on the grid, as is always the case in Monaco.
The second practice session gets underway way at 14.00
