Full marks for Gai, Blancardi, Laursen and Bachelier in Valencia

Valencia, 8 May – The second round of the European Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli took place today at the Ricardo Tormo circuit, in Valencia. Stefano Gai (Rossocorsa) took an amazing win in Race 1, while victory in Race 2 went to Max Blancardi (Motor Malucelli). Apart from the racing, many Ferrari owners took on the challenge of the track at the wheel of their own cars as part of the “Excitement on track” programme.

The first race saw Stefano Gai (Rossocorsa) emerge victorious, having led the Trofeo Pirelli category comfortably from start to finish, crossing the line ahead of the champion of 2010 European series, Philipp Baron (Baron Service) and Max Blancardi (Motor/Malucelli) who both ran well in what was a closely contested race. Equally tight was the competition between the gentleman drivers in the Coppa Shell: Johnny Laursen (Formula Automobile) took the win from Philippe Prette (Motor/ Malucelli) and Dennis Andersen (Formula Automobile) while Gerald Grohmann (Warm Up) was first home among the F430 Challenge drivers, beating Howard Blank and Alexander Moiseev (Motor/Piacenza)

In the afternoon race, Max Blancardi made it to the top step of the podium in the Trofeo Pirelli, having led throughout the 35 minutes of the race. He took the flag ahead of Stefano Gai and Alexandr Skryabin (Ferrari Moscow), who both drove faultless races. In the Coppa Shell category, Jean Marc Bachelier (Motor/Piacenza) took a great win, getting the better of Johnny Laursen (Formula Automobile) and Philippe Prette (Motor/Malucelli). In the second race for those running the F430 Challenge, Gerald Grohmann took the top spot, beating Howard Blank and Vladmir Kirilyuk (Ferrari Moscow).

Competitors in the European Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli will be back in action at the Algarve International circuit on 22 May, while the two divisions will also make a first appearance at Le Mans (11 June) in one race with separate classifications, as a curtain raiser to the prestigious Le Mans 24 Hours.
