Cana: "OM will be champions"

02/05/11 - OM 1-1 AJA

The former midfielder of Olympique de Marseille was in the stands against Auxerre on Sunday at the Stade Vélodrome. He did not fail to stop and greet as well as encourage his former partners in the dressing room after the game. He also answered questions from our consultant, Jean-Charles de Bono.

Lorik, do you still have time to follow OM, even in Turkey?
I follow them am all the time as much as when I was in England as in Turkey. It's a love story! Indeed it was great to see OM get out of the group stage in the Champions League. I hope the team will confirm with a new title of champions. The club must be sustainable on a national and even European level.

How do you see the end of the season for OM?
Although it's very tight with Lille for the title, OM have the necessary qualities. The team does not perhaps play to its full potential at the moment but we know that potential is there. In my opinion this is the team that will be champions. We are all behind them to push them on and help the club grow.

How do you find the atmosphere of the Vélodrome?
The fans are always behind the team, they have a crucial role to play, but I wish they would push more in difficult periods. It's like Gignac, they must push him as he is a player that can pull the team up.

Do you plan to wear the jersey of OM again one day?
I spent so many wonderful years here that you always want to relive it. I did my job here to try to pull the club up. In a few years when I'm older, why not come back here to finish? I have my family here but before that I still want to discover many things in football.

How is your season with Galatasaray going?
It's a tough year for us with many non-sporting issues. There is a fervor that resembles OM. It's great to live but the problems bring the club down. It's a good experience, I am growing as a man and as a footballer.
