Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster
Mercedes-Benz officials have published a series of new photos with the final version of SLS AMG Roadster. Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster will debut at Internationale Automobil-Ausstellung, and those interested can order it from next month.
Mercedes officials have decided not to keep us in suspense and to disclose new information, details and pictures of SLS AMG convertible version. The model will make its debut in the flesh at the Frankfurt Motor Show this autumn, and dealers will take orders starting next month.
Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster renounces at the vertical opening doors in favor of a soft-top and some conventional doors. For this reason, the Mercedes engineers had to make a number of reinforcement to the aluminum structure, and the total mass increased 40 kilograms, compared with the coupe version.
The soft-top roof is made of three layers of cloth, aluminum and magnesium and can be raised or dropped in 11 seconds at 50 km/h. Under the hood of the SLS AMG Roadster we find the same aspirated V8 engine that produces 6.208 cubic centimeters and develops 563 hp at 6,800 rpm and a torque of 650 Nm at 4750 rpm.
In terms of performance on the track, Mercedes officials claim that SLS AMG Roadster sprints from 0-100 km/h in 3.8 seconds, 0.1 seconds slower than the coupe, and the maximum speed is 322 km/h. The engine power is transmitted to wheels through a gearbox with double-clutch and seven reports.
Thanks to the AMG Drive Unit, drivers can choose between three different suspension modes: Comfort, Sport and Sport Plus. The new Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster comes with Airscarf that warms driver’s neck and head through a ventilation system integrated into the headrests. Inside, we found AMG heated seats, leather wrapped, a center console with carbon fiber inserts and the navigation system with a COMAND DVD- Player.
