Canadian GP - A different job sheet to usual
Montreal, 10 June – The forty third running of the Canadian Grand Prix got underway this morning with the first free practice session for the seventh round of the Formula 1 World Championship, which takes place on Sunday at the Gilles Villeneuve circuit. Quickest at the end of the session as Nico Rosberg (1.15.591) in the Mercedes ahead of Fernando Alonso (1.16.139) in the Ferrari and Michael Schumacher in the other Mercedes (1.16.549.) Felipe Massa took the other 150º Italia to fourth spot in 1.16.658.
Both Ferrari men tried various aerodynamic settings and the braking system was also carefully analysed, given it comes in for a lot of hard use because of the Canadian track’s layout. There were also practice starts and the usual tyre comparison on the agenda: apart from the soft tyres, teams were also given some Medium Pirelli compound tyres to evaluate during today’s two sessions, for future use.
