Lewis Hamilton and Tony Stewart – Seat Swap Special
Car-Addicts gives you the full record of the event in which Lewis Hamilton drove a NASCAR car of a former Formula 1 circuit in New York.
Lewis Hamilton took part Tuesday in a special event in which he had the opportunity to drive a Chevrolet Impala car from the North American Touring Car Championship (NASCAR).
The event took place on the former Formula 1 circuit of Watkins Glen in New York and included a demonstration with a Formula 1 racecar: McLaren MP4-23 from the 2008 season made by NASCAR driver Tony Stewart.
Basically, Hamilton and Stewart exchanged their experience to find the competition features in which they don’t compete regularly. “Tony was an excellent teacher and I quickly found a good pace. Those machines are powerful and fantastic to drive,” Hamilton said at the end of the event; Stewart being equally excited by the Formula 1 car.
The Chevrolet Impala NASCAR car piloted by the British is equipped with a 5.86-liter V8 engine capable of developing 850 hp and has a total mass of 1542 kg.
The event was organized by the Mobil 1 motor oil producer, a traditional partner for McLaren and the NASCAR team for which Stewart is competing.
