Spa 24 Hours – A complicated night

Maranello, 29 July – Unpredictable weather affected qualifying for the Spa 24 Hours, which gets underway tomorrow afternoon, as the third round of the Blancpain Endurance Series. The session was run at night, starting on a wet track and gradually drying out. Coming out on top in the PRO-CUP, was the BMW Z4 of Maxime Martin - Bas Leinder - Marc Hennerici in a time of 2:24.488. A trio of 458 Italia GT3 cars can be found in 12th, 13th and 14th places on the time sheet in this order: Matteo Bobbi - Frank Kechele - Giacomo Petrobelli (2:30.026), Eric van de Poele - Nico Verdonck - Jean-Karl Vernay (2:30.082) and Oliver Pla - Joulien Jousse - Patrice Goueslard (2:30.730.)

The best Ferrari 458 Italia GT3 performance is an eighth overall for Kack Gerber - Matt Griffin - Nicola Cadei - Marco Cioci (2:28.262), fourth in the PRO-AM CUP category, while the 430 Scuderia of Lionel Comole - Andre Alain Corbel - Thomas Duchene - Eric Vaissiere took a surprise pole in the Gentlemen Trophy: the result is a just reward for all the team’s hard work in repairing the car following a big accident during free practice.
