CAN YOU GUESS WHAT IT IS YET?

Jul 29, 2011

Our two drivers had a busy day in Hungary, rushing around the Hungaroring circuit a total of 125 times between them.

Jaime ended up sixteenth fastest, two places in front of Sébastien. While the team worked hard in the garage, other members of the Toro Rosso squad were also engaged in a highly technical process, as you can see looking at the attached photo. Can you guess what it is yet? Come back late tomorrow night to find out.

Anyway, back in the real world of Formula 1, it looked for a while as though all that rain at the Nurburgring last weekend was following us to Budapest for the eleventh round of the world championship. However by the time the cars took to the track in the morning – including Bruno Senna replacing Nick Heidfeld in the Renault for his first official appearance of the year – it had dried out. The forecast still claimed there might be some rain in the afternoon, so we pushed our programme along as fast as we could, so that Jaime actually stepped out of his STR6 cockpit before the full 90 minutes this afternoon. The rain never came and in fact, the forecast looks better from now on.

The top two names on this afternoon’s time sheet are the same as though that topped the final race result sheet at the Nurburgring five days ago: Lewis Hamilton was fastest today for McLaren ahead of the Ferrari of birthday boy – he’s 30 – Fernando Alonso. Third was Jenson Button in the other McLaren, while Mark Webber was fourth, having swiped the nose off his Red Bull in the morning, against the barriers. His team-mate and series leader Sebastian Vettel was behind him in fifth, while Felipe Massa was sixth in the other Ferrari.
