Chong, Liu and Wyatt ahead of the rest in Shanghai qualifying
The Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli is back in action at the Shanghai circuit for the third round of the Asia Pacific series. Today, over twenty cars took to the track to tackle two qualifying sessions to decide the grids for tomorrow’s races. Of the Trofe Pirelli drivers, Ringo Chong (Singapore) and Anthony Liu (China) will start from pole, while in the Coppa Shell, both races will see Steve Wyatt (Australia) start from the number one slot on the grid.
Shanghai, 13 August –The first qualifying session saw Singapore’s Ringo Chong set the fastest time in 2.14.003, ahead of Anthony Liu (2.14.030) and Hisamori Hayashi from Japan (2.14.102.) In the Coppa Shell, Steve Wyatt won the battle for pole in 2.17.158, getting the better of South Korea’s Tack Sung Kim (2.17.604) and Singapore’s Gregory Teo (2.17.797.)
For the second session, the temperatures were much higher as Anthony Liu was fastest overall in 2.12.574, followed by Hisamori Hayashi (2.13.758) and Eric Kwong from Hong Kong (2.14.269.) In the Coppa Shell it was again Steve Wyatt who was quickest in 2.16.445, beating Tack Sung Kim (2.17.294) and Gregory Teo (2.17.462,) all improving on their morning times.
Tomorrow’s two races get underway at 10.30 and 15.15.
