Ferrari Challenge Asia Pacific: more excitement in Shanghai
After a very successful weekend’s racing back on 24 July, the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli is again in action at the Shanghai circuit for another round of the Asia Pacific series. Over twenty 458 Challenge drivers took part in two free practice sessions and tomorrow they tackle two qualifying sessions to decide the grids for the races that run on Sunday. The professionals and the gentleman drivers are particularly pleased to be back at this track, home to the Chinese Grand Prix since its inception in 2004 and it will also provide more track time prior to the next round at Sepang circuit in Malaysia at the end of September.
Shanghai, 12 August -The first free practice session saw the Chinese driver Anthony Liu at the top of the time sheet, in 2.14.337, beating Ringo Chong (Singapore, 2.14.694) and Philip Ma (Hong Kong, 2.15.686), in the Trofeo Pirelli group, while of the gentleman drivers in the Coppa Shell, the quickest was Steve Wyatt (Australia, 2.16.497) ahead of Gregory Teo (Singapore, 2.16.912) and Alex Au (Hong Kong, 2.18.327).
In the second session, Anthony Liu was once again fastest in the main class, in a time of 2.13.035, followed by Hisamori Hayashi (Japan, 2.13.883) and Ringo Chong (Singapore, 2.14.520), while of the Coppa Shell runners, the fastest lap was set by Steve Wyatt in 2.15.046 ahead of Alex Au (2.15.685) and South Korea’s driver Tack Sung Kim (2.18.086).
Tomorrow’s programmes features two qualifying sessions which take place at 10.20 and 14.35, local time.
