Shakira and Boy George join Singapore entertainment line-up

Singapore race organisers have released further news of their off-track entertainment line-up for September’s event. Global superstar Shakira and 1980s legend Boy George will join previously-announced acts Linkin Park, Shaggy, Rick Astley, Charice and Massive Attack’s Daddy G & 3D to perform over the course of the Marina Bay round.

“Building on the glamour of the only Formula One night race, we’ve packed all three days with an extensive entertainment programme featuring the biggest names in music, stunning theatrical-visual productions, retro showcases and electrifying parades,” explained Michael Roche, executive director, Singapore GP Pte Ltd. “Fans only need the one ticket to enjoy both the thrilling track action and all day entertainment, making a ticket to the Singapore Grand Prix truly value for money.”

Grammy Award-winning Colombian singer-songwriter Shakira will headline the Padang main stage on the Saturday evening, treating assembled fans to some of her most famous songs including ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ and ‘Whenever Wherever’. Boy George will also be in action on the Saturday, wowing the crowds with a one-night only performance of his greatest hits on the Village Stage.

Linkin Park will perform songs from album A Thousand Suns on race day, September 25, on the Padang main stage. Glee starlet Charice will be in action on Friday and Saturday nights, whilst Shaggy and Rick Astley will both perform on Saturday and Sunday.

As well as pop acts, race goers can watch two fully-fledged musicals - Bollywood Express and Forbidden Broadway as part of the off-track entertainment. They will also be able to take a surreal walk through the Milky Way courtesy of visual spectacle La Terra Al Centro Dell’universo, catch classical Baroque-era theatre at the Venetian Festival and enjoy Studio Festi’s acrobatic dance act Ocean Symphony.
