Vitantonio and the Italian Genius

2011-09-08

Monza, 8th of September, 2011

HRT Formula One’s Italian driver, Vitantonio Liuzzi, unveiled this afternoon the special edition helmet that he will be wearing at the Italian Grand Prix. It is a unique helmet designed in honour of his fans in Monza on occasion of his 75th career Grand Prix.

For the fifth time this season, Vitantonio Liuzzi’s Bell helmets will feature the exclusive design inspired by his all time Helmet Designer "Lucky" (the Italian Gianluca Croci) to pay tribute to Italy’s most famous geniuses that have marked the cultural and historical roots of the country: The Italian greats of Julius Caesar, Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Galileo and Dante.

Vitantonio Liuzzi’s current 2011 helmets that he has used during the season bear a strong three colour scheme with a base of green, red and grey colours. Kaos designer and Italian artist "Lucky" has already previously prepared four special edition helmets for use in the 2011 season so far: Monaco, "Captain Tonio", for the Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona, "El Tonio Olé", for the European Grand Prix in Valencia an imaginary situation where "Tonioloco” acts fearless and for the German Grand Prix at Nuerburgring, "Tonio cosmic”, a specially inspired creation, prepared with German Cosmic cartoon designer Daniel Simon.

The base of the special edition Monza helmet will be pearl white. It will be signed with Vitantonio Liuzzi's traditional autograph. On the top part of the helmet Vitantonio's logo will be displayed as will the blason of the Republic of Italy. The illustration of a thinking "Genius" will be depicted at the top, while on the bottom part, the writing THE ITALIAN GENIUSES is engraved in gold leaves. The back and sides of the helmet will also have a dark carbon base and also picture Vitantonio’s car driving the HRT Formula One inside the garage; the mechanics of the team will be depicted along with the famous figures of Italy’s great history: Julius Caesar, Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Galileo and Dante Alighieri.

Thursday September 8th, 2011 will mark a special occasion for the thousands of motorsport fans of the Italian champion, who turned 30 earlier this summer. Fans will be able to participate on his website (www.liuzzi.com) and on the team’s website (www.hispaniaracing.com) in a special prize draw after answering successfully the “Vitantonio Liuzzi helmet mystery quiz”.

Vitantonio Liuzzi, HRT Formula One Team, commented; "Monza is really the place to please all my fans. I want to thank my designer “Lucky” and his company Kaos Design to have had so much inspiration to prepare this very special helmet. Lucky and I go back a long way. I welcomed Lucky's idea for my helmet because I have always thought that F1 racing is more than a life style. Along with the artist who designed my helmet we decided to create a special edition for this weekend to reflect the exceptional creativity of the team members and their dedication to the world of Formula 1. Like Leonardo Da Vinci in the past, our engineers and team members have both style and versatility in their disciplines, just like Michelangelo and Galileo were both hugely influential in their world, or Italy's major poet Dante. This Monza edition helmet is dedicated to all the team members, from Daniel Ricciardo my team-mate to all the engineers".
