ASK THE GP NATION: SINGAPORE
19 SEPTEMBER 2011
As @Beren1313 says, it’s all about “night, streets and walls”
Night, lights, action! Or as @Beren1313 says, “Night!! Streets!! Walls!!” Yes, it’s time for Singapore! You are all really excited and for most of you this is one of the best Grands Prix of the year, so… Bring it on!
But why is it such a special one? You have the answers: “The glittering of the F1 cars”, says @SGF1Fan. “The fact that it’s a night race, beautifully laid out, with fast and slow corners”, says @TheF1Tweeter. “Sharp corners”, adds @ShannonKaay. For @Mark_Lambton it’s “the triple apex chicane” what just makes it, while for @93_racing_truck it’s the fact that “the floodlights are on for the entire race”. Well, during the race, and every night during the race weekend – something that makes it special for @TheCrazyCaptain, @AdorimediaF1, @ashley_brown, @domreason, @nyah1705 or @rachelclarkef1… And as @ShaunNicholson1 points out, “hope they don’t have a power cut during the race!”
The track itself is also special. As @ESPImperium says, it has “the highest number of gear changes during a lap”. “It’s slow yet F1 cars can still fly”, adds @redbullf1team. And for @MalleshMagdub, “the skyline just makes it.” For @f1fanatic_co_uk, “it’s always great to watch Glock at Singapore. I remember him keeping Sutil back for a few laps last year”. Let’s see what he’s capable of this year at his favourite track! A very technical track though, where it’s easy to make a mistake… If not ask @cedricalbert85 who says “it’s the only track where I ‘m unable to get a good result on the Codemasters F1 2010 game!” Remember, practice makes perfect. “I love seeing the driver’s eyes through the visor during the race, the only race where you can see them”, explains @Chris_Gurrell.
So put all these ingredients together and what we get is what @Vix_Vettel describes as “magical and spectacular”. It certainly is, so get ready @chelseabeckman –she’s attending her first ever Singapore GP. It’s also a race where Sebastian Vettel has a first opportunity to win the World Championship – something @fan_peiyi and @f1nic are really looking forward to!
But for @lisaellelarouge the most important of all is that “you guys are coming to my home country! That’s about a good enough reason, isn’t it?” Yes, it surely is! We can’t wait for more racing and as @ReddingtonC, @jovenatheart and @damien_marquez suggest, “chicken rice!” @datenhamster also adds that “Wantan soup at Maxwell Food Centre is a must”, while @ishtar_ says you can’t miss “steamed dumplings and handmade noodles in Chinatown complex”. For @naheedR “chilli crab at Jumbo’s” is something we all have to go for. @Quemerford is “not sure about meals, but a Singapore Sling always goes down well!”, as @BadgerGP and @StephanieWeiser add that “the best Sling is at Fullerton Hotel.” @maygobabe remembers drinking Slings after “getting caught in the Monsoon rains – something @thedementor is really looking forward to: “I kind of really want it to rain… Not sure I’ll enjoy getting soaked to the bone when I’m there though!” Trust us, it’s inevitable.
So we are all ready for what @chelseabeckman describes as “a race right in the heart of such an amazing and diverse city”. Singapore, here we come!
