Hamilton: Looking forward now
Lewis Hamilton will this weekend attempt to put his "tough times" behind him as he comes to terms with his recent heartbreak.
Hamilton cut a miserable figure throughout the Korean Grand Prix nearly a fortnight ago, despite claiming his first pole position for 27 races and going on to finish second.
Although often insisting he was "happy", it soon emerged Hamilton had split from pop star girlfriend Nicole Scherzinger after four years together.
Asked whether he and Scherzinger parted on good terms, speaking for the first time on the matter, Hamilton said: "Yeah, we're friends at least and we can move forward."
Looking forward
For the 2008 world champion, this weekend's inaugural Indian Grand Prix now offers him an opportunity to forget his behind-the-scenes woes.
"It's never easy going through tough times," added Hamilton.
"It's these kind of times that are sent to try you, and it's about how you pull through them. I've my family who are helping, so I feel pretty good."
Hamilton turned to his family following the race in Korea, spending quality time at home with brother Nic, dad Anthony and stepmum Linda.
"That helped, definitely," added Hamilton.
"And I've many more days coming up with my family over Christmas and all that, so I'm really looking forward to it."
For now, there are a further three grands prix to tackle before he can finally bring the curtain down on a season to forget.
At least he has his performance in Korea to build on, with the McLaren star on the podium for the first time in six races.
"I feel positive coming into the weekend knowing we were very competitive in the last race," said Hamilton.
"I'm just trying to look forward now, and we've three good races coming up, so I'm just trying to keep my mind focused on business."
