iWitness in Korea: Sunday

Posted on Tuesday 18 Oct 2011

Back-to-back races in Japan and Korea haven’t amounted to enough time away for some members of AT&T Williams. With the inaugural Indian Grand Prix two weeks away, the team is once again scattering itself across Asia and the Sub Continent for the next 10 days. For those heading to India early, careful with the food: we don’t want anyone knocked out with ‘Delhi Belly’ before the race weekend!

The chequered flag brought the Korean Grand Prix to an end, while also marking the start of another race. There was a general rush to get out of Korea and none got away faster than Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button and Mark Webber. They left the track at 6pm, just one hour after the flag fell, and flew by private plane from Gwangju to Tokyo.

Congratulations to Red Bull Racing on securing their second successive Constructors’ World Championship today. To put their second title of the year beyond doubt, they needed to out-score McLaren and they did that in emphatic style, coming home in first and third places. What a year it’s been for our neighbours in the UK!

Everyone at AT&T Williams was saddened this evening by the news that IndyCar driver Dan Wheldon has been killed in an accident at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Dan was one of the brightest young talents to emerge from the UK in the mid-’90s and he had many friends in our team. We send our sincerest condolences to his family and many friends.
