Audi A1 Sportback – official info and photos

Audi released the first pictures and information for the new Audi A1 Sportback, the 5-door version, expected at the Tokyo Motor Show 2011.

While the auto media still reviews the Los Angeles Motor Show 2011, the Germans officially released the long awaited pictures and information for the new Audi A1 Sportback, the five-door version of the smallest A1.

Audi A1 Sportback Specs
Audi A1 Sportback preserves the 3-door model’s size, 154.3 inches (3.92 m) long and 97.2 inches (2.47 m) wheelbase, but manages to offer on the inside about half inch (~ 1 cm) extra at the shoulders and legs level. As a result, Audi decided to offer its customers at no extra cost, a rear back seat with three places instead of two.

Regarding the trunk, Audi A1 Sportback also boasts with a capacity of 9.45 ft3 (270 liters), expandable to 32.2 ft3 (920 liters) when the back seat is folded.

For Europe, Audi will offer three petrol engines and three diesels.

The petrol entry-level will be provided by a 1.2 TFSI engine of 86 horsepower, capable of recording consumption of just 55.4 UK MPG (46.1 US MPG, 5.1 litres/100 km). The second one is the 1.4 TFSI of 122 hp. But the flagship will have 185 hp, resources that will enable Audi A1 Sportback to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (0-100 km/h) in just 7 seconds, up to a maximum speed of 141 mph (227 km/h).

The diesel fans will receive the 1.6-liter TDI in two power variants of 90 and 105 horsepower, both with a consumption of only 74.3 UK MPG (61.9 US MPG, 3.8 litres/100 km). The most powerful diesel engine remains the 2.0-liter 143 hp that accelerates from 0 to 60 mph (0-100 km/h) in 8.5 seconds and has a consumption of only 68.9 UK MPG (57.3 US MPG, 4.1 litres/100 km).

Along with the six engines, Audi offers an automatic S-tronic seven-speed transmission, and a six-speed manual transmission.

After the Audi A1 Sportback officially presentation at the Tokyo Motor Show in early December, it will arrive on the auto markets in spring, and the prices will start from 16,950 Euros ( $22,925; L14,640) for the 1.2 TFSI version in Germany.
