Peugeot has published today the first official images and information of the new 2012 Peugeot 208. The new 208 comes with new dimensions, a larger trunk and ultra efficient engines.
Just as promised, Peugeot has published today the first official images and information on the model that has always checked exceptional business results. It’s about the best-seller 208, now at a new generation: 2012 Peugeot 208. The new 2012 Peugeot 208 presents a heavily inspired look from the Peugeot HX1 and Peugeot SR1 concepts, but also from the Peugeot 508 series model. Along with the mid-range model, the new Peugeot 208 marks a new design language for the French manufacturer.
2012 Peugeot 208 – Engines and Consumption
The new Peugeot 208 will debut on the auto market in spring 2012. The 2012 Peugeot 208 will be offered with five diesel engines and two petrol. The most economic model from the range will have a combined consumption of 3.4 liters per cent. The petrol engines will have three cylinders and will be offered in two versions of displacement: 1.0 and 1.2 liters.
The power will be between 75 and 100 horsepower. The 1.0 liter petrol engine will be able to provide an average fuel consumption of only 3.5 liters / 100 km and emissions of 99 g/km. The diesel engines available on 2012 Peugeot 208 will be offered with micro-hybrid system of PSA alliance, guaranteeing an incredible consumption of just 2.8 liters / 100 km and emissions of 87 g/km.
The new 2012 Peugeot 208 promises to be more maneuverable and more economical, and the new engines seem to follow that promise. Some rumors announces a future Peugeot 208 GTI version, which will to receive a THP motorization. This could be called RC version on some markets.

2012 Peugeot 208 – Interior and Exterior
The interior of the new 2012 Peugeot 208 seems to have received a number of improvements, both in terms of quality materials and in terms of design. Strictly on the inside, Peugeot 208 seems to be more advanced, in line with the trend introduced by other rivals in the segment. The dashboard has been redesigned and now has a complex multimedia system, interacting with the driver via a touch screen.
The materials used at the interior of Peugeot 208 will also increase in terms of quality and the steering wheel will be replaced by a smaller one. The entire dashboard will be oriented towards the driver.
Compared by its predecessor, the new 2012 Peugeot 208 is seven centimeters ( 2.75 inches) shorter and 173 kilograms (382 lbs) lighter. Even so, the wheelbase remained identical, 2540 mm (100 inches), ensuring a generous interior space. Although decreased in size, thus opposing the general market trend, Peugeot 208 provides a larger trunk by 15 liters, accumulating a total of 285 liters.
