Abu Dhabi GP – Alonso third and Massa fourth in the second practice session

Abu Dhabi, 11 November – The second session of free practice for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix has just finished under the artificial lights of the Yas Marina Circuit in preparation for Sunday’s penultimate round of the Formula 1 world championship. There were small gaps at the head of the timesheets, where the McLarens of Lewis Hamilton (1.39.586) and Jenson Button (1.39.785) ended up ahead of the Ferraris of Fernando Alonso (1.39.971) and Felipe Massa (1.39.980).

The usual Friday programme of work was completed with the exception of the long run on full tanks for Alonso, who was forced to finish his session early after going off the track. The drivers tested both compounds – Medium and Soft – and different examples of the front wing on the UAE track, where the grip seems to improve as the temperature goes down. That is important data for the team heading into qualifying and the race, which start at the same hour of the day.

The third and final session of free practice is scheduled for tomorrow at 1400 local time.

Abu Dhabi, 11 novembre – Sotto le luci artificiali del circuito di Yas Marina si è da poco conclusa la seconda sessione di prove libere del Gran Premio di Abu Dhabi, penultimo appuntamento del Mondiale di Formula 1 in programma domenica. Contenuti i distacchi al vertice della classifica, dove troviamo le McLaren di Lewis Hamilton (1.39.586) e Jenson Button (1.39.785), davanti alle Ferrari di Fernando Alonso (1.39.971) e Felipe Massa (1.39.980). Completato l’abituale programma di lavoro del venerdì, fatta eccezione per il long run con pieno carico di benzina per Alonso, costretto a concludere la sua prova in anticipo a causa di un uscita di pista. Testate le due mescole – Medium e Soft - e diversi esemplari di ala anteriore sul tracciato arabo, dove l’aderenza sembra essere migliorata con l’abbassarsi delle temperature: dati preziosi per la squadra in vista di qualifiche e gara, al via nello stesso orario.

L’appuntamento con il terzo e conclusivo turno di prove libere è in programma domani alle 14, ora locale.
