Abu Dhabi GP - Work starts on tyres at Abu Dhabi
Abu Dhabi, 11 November – The Formula 1 engines fired up again today at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi, the stage for the 18th and penultimate round of the world championship. The McLaren of Jenson Button was fastest in the first session of free practice (1.40.263), ahead of the Red Bull of Mark Webber (1.40.389) and the other McLaren of Lewis Hamilton (1.40.403). The two Ferraris of Fernando Alonso (1.40.801) and Felipe Massa (1.41.260) were fifth and sixth fastest at the end of the action that was predominantly given over to a comparative test between the tyres brought by Pirelli to the futuristic circuit. After starting on the Medium compound, both Ferrari drivers tested the experimental Soft tyre that has been made available for this first day of testing: both Felipe’s ‘extra’ sets were damaged, the first probably due to contact with debris and the second after he went off during the session.

Abu Dhabi, 11 novembre – I motori della Formula 1 si sono riaccesi oggi sullo Yas Marina Circuit di Abu Dhabi, teatro del diciottesimo e penultimo appuntamento del Campionato del Mondo. La più veloce nell’inaugurale turno di prove libere è stata la McLaren di Jenson Button (1.40.263), davanti alla Red Bull di Mark Webber (1.40.389) ed all’altra McLaren di Lewis Hamilton (1.40.403). Quinto e sesto miglior crono per le due Ferrari di Fernando Alonso (1.40.801) e Felipe Massa (1.41.260), al termine di un confronto prevalentemente dedicato al test comparativo tra le gomme portate dalla Pirelli sul futuristico impianto arabo. Dopo un inizio con mescola Medium entrambi i ferraristi hanno testato la Soft sperimentale messa a disposizione per questa prima giornata di prove: danneggiati entrambi i set ‘aggiuntivi’ per Felipe, il primo probabilmente dal contatto con alcuni detriti, il secondo in seguito ad un uscita di pista occorsa in prova.
