A lot of kilometres for Bianchi on first day of Abu Dhabi test

Maranello, 15 November - This morning, Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina circuit was the venue for a test session which, for a few years now, the Formula 1 teams have carried out using young drivers. Driving on all three days for Scuderia Ferrari is Frenchman, Jules Bianchi.
Today’s programme was focussed on two main elements: the first aimed at taking aerodynamic measurements, which also involved the use of devices fitted specifically for this task, while the second looked at finding the set-up on the car which best suited Jules’ driving style.
By the end of the day, Bianchi completed a total of 85 laps, the fastest in a time of 1.40.960.
“It’s great to be back at the wheel of a Ferrari on a real track,” said Jules at the end of the day. “I’ve already driven this car for some aerodynamic testing, but doing it at a real test is a whole different story. Now, I am looking forward to a further two days of testing and we hope to carry on as we have started, with a lot of kilometres completed and trouble free running.”
Testing at this circuit continues tomorrow, again with the French driver on track for the Scuderia.

Maranello, 15 novembre - Si è aperta questa mattina sul circuito di Yas Marina, ad Abu Dhabi, la sessione di prove che le squadre di Formula 1 dedicano ormai da qualche anno ai giovani piloti. Per la Scuderia Ferrari è in pista per tutti e tre i giorni di test previsti il francese Jules Bianchi.
Il programma della giornata era sostanzialmente imperniato su due punti: da una parte una serie di misurazioni aerodinamiche, ottenute anche grazie all’ausilio di particolari strumentazioni allestite per l’occasione; dall’altra, si è lavorato sulla ricerca del miglior assetto della vettura per adattarlo alle caratteristiche di guida di Jules.
Alla fine della giornata, Bianchi ha completato in totale 85 giri, il più veloce nel tempo di 1.40.960.
“E’ bello tornare a guidare una Ferrari su una pista vera” – ha detto Jules alla fine della giornata – “Ero già stato al volante di questa vettura in occasione di prove di aerodinamica ma farlo in un test vero e proprio è tutta un’altra cosa. Ora mi aspettano altri due giorni di prove e speriamo di continuare così come abbiamo iniziato, con tanti chilometri percorsi e senza alcun problema.”
Le prove su questo circuito proseguiranno anche domani, sempre con il pilota francese in pista per la Scuderia.
