The AT&T Williams pit garage burst into fits of giggles during the closing stages of today’s 55-lap race. Rubens Barrichello was storming through the field from the last row of the grid and as he closed in on Sauber’s Sergio Perez in 11th place, he received an unusual radio call from the pit wall. “Hunt him down, Rubens, hunt him down”, came the cry from race engineer Tom McCullough. And that’s what he did: Rubens crossed the line 0.7s behind the Mexican.
We had a Brazilian footballing legend in the AT&T Williams pit prior to the race. Ronaldo dropped by to wish Rubens luck and you’ll hardly believe what happened next: Rubens complained of a poorly leg during the race! Amazing what happens when you spend too much time with footballers…

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini was spotted in the Ferrari pit and Neil Warnock, the manager of Queens Park Rangers, was present with players Shaun Wright-Phillips, Jay Boothroyd and Heidar Helguson to unveil the club’s crest on the Team Lotus cars (both Lotus and QPR are owned by Tony Fernandes). The QPR lot were never spotted with the team’s former owner Bernie Ecclestone…
To end our sporting ‘sleb’ spotting, it’s worth noting that golf star Rory McIlroy was at the race with his girlfriend Caroline Wozniacki, the number one female tennis player in the world. Given their schedules, this must have been a rare weekend
