Brabus B25

- THE SPECS: Yuma Motors, the Thai dealer of Brabus, is offering souped-up versions of the Mercedes-Benz E250 CGI. The 1.8-litre turbo engine gets a 26hp power hike to 230, while torque swells by another 40Nm to 350. The so-called B25 is sold for B5.9m in saloon and coupé forms, B5.99m for the cabriolet (as pictured) and B6.1m for the estate.

- WE THINK: The performance upgrade may matter to some, but we believe that potential buyers would fall more for the bespoke looks like the mag wheels known as Monoblock in Brabus speak.

- OR TRY THIS: The Audi A5 with MTM enhancements in which the Thai agent is offering in a variety of looks and performance options.

Hyundai Grand Starex

- THE SPECS: Hyundai Motor (Thailand) is selling an accessorised version of the H1 full-size van featuring captain seats and audio enhancements called Grand Starex VIP. The introductory price is B1.89m, against the normal price of B1.95m.

- WE THINK: For those who haven't really come to terms with Volkswagen's pricey Caravelle, your mobile living room has arrived.

- OR TRY THIS: The Toyota Ventury Majesty sold by Toyota Motor Thailand at B2.2m.

Peugeot 207 1.6

- THE SPECS: Yontrakit Automobiles, the authorised distributor of Peugeot, has launched an updated version of the 207 B-segment hatchback assembled in Malaysia. Power comes from a 1.6-litre petrol engine and four-speed automatic, while the price is set at B959,000.

- WE THINK: Despite managing to enjoy 0% import duty via the Afta trade scheme, the 207 still isn't priced to compete with the likes of the Honda Jazz. You need to be a genuine fan of Peugeot.

- OR TRY THIS: If you really have that kind of money to spare, go for a C-segment hatch like the Ford Focus or Mazda 3.

Toyota Prius

- THE SPECS: Toyota Motor Thailand this week officially introduced the Prius _ the second hybrid-powered car to be made in Thailand after the Camry Hybrid _ coming with a 134hp 1.8-litre petrol/electric and CVT automatic drivetrain. Prices have been set at B1.19m for the standard version and B1.26m for the Leg 11 top model.

- WE THINK: The Prius is good for those finding the Camry Hybrid unnecessarily big and commonplace.

- OR TRY THIS: The Ford Focus five-door hatchback equipped with a 136hp 2.0-litre turbo-diesel and six-speed dual-clutch automatic costing B1.169m.
