Red Bull owner Dietrich Mateschitz is adamant Sebastian Vettel will not be handed automatic number one status despite winning the World title.

Vettel will enter next year's campaign as the defending World Champion having pipped Fernando Alonso to the title by four points thanks to his victory in the season finale in Abu Dhabi.

His Red Bull team-mate Mark Webber, who was also in the hunt for the Championship until the very end, finished third, 14 points behind the German.

Vettel's title triumph came on the back of calls from many for Red Bull to put their efforts behind his team-mate as Webber was ahead of Vettel in the standings heading to Abu Dhabi.

However, Red Bull insisted they would not favour one driver over the other, which Mateschitz says will be their policy next season as well.

"Mark and he will be on equal terms," the Austrian billionaire told Welt am Sonntag.

"Sebastian must prove his class again next year and Mark won't make things easy for him."
