Biking for a good cause

Bring the Elephant Home Foundation is holding a charity bike ride entitled "Bike for Elephants" on January 15 and 16. The two-day adventure will take participants through the Mae Tang Valley in Chiang Mai province.

The charity bike ride aims to raise funds for the Elephant Nature Park, an elephant sanctuary where abused and neglected elephants are free to roam, and to raise awareness regarding the plight of Thai elephants.

The 50km route on January 15 and 40km route on January 16 is suitable for average bikers. The adventure starts at the Mae Rim Lagoon Resort with a briefing and biking and safety instructions. Bikers will camp on Saturday night at the Elephant Nature Park where they will have an opportunity to learn about natural elephant behaviour.

The second day starts with mountain climbing followed by biking, which will finish at Bua Tong Waterfall.

A team needs to be comprised of a minimum of four and a maximum of 10 members. As a team you will receive your own page on our website to help you with online fund-raising.

Your team will set your own target for the fund-raising efforts, but a minimum amount of 5,000 baht per person is required.

Individual bikers are also welcome to join the Bring the Elephant Home team.

Registration fee is 2,500 baht per person (not including a mountain bike) or 3,300 baht per person (including a mountain bike, helmet and bottled water).

This fee includes safety instructions, a Bike for Elephants T-shirt, all meals and drinks and camping at Elephant Nature Park.
