VISIT RANONG ALONG ANDAMAN FESTIVAL 2011
March 18 – 21, 2011
At the Ranong Municipal Administration Office
The Visit Ranong Along Andaman Festival, held annually in March, promotes travel to the province of Ranong.
The event highlights the province’s many attractions and tourism potential and is being held at the Ranong Municipal Administration Office (ask for Tessaban Mueang Ranong), March 18 – 21, 2011.
Situated on the Isthmus of Kra, the narrow strip that connects mainland Thailand with the Malay Peninsula, on the west side of the Phuket mountain range, Ranong is 586 kilometres south of Bangkok and is the first southern province and gateway to the Andaman.
The province is blessed with natural beauty and cultural charm. Its lush green rainforests and a verdant mountainous landscape is nurtured by the heavy rain during the monsoon season (approximately from June until October). During this time, the mist-shrouded mountains of Ranong offer spectacular, breathtaking scenery.
The province’s other natural gems include its natural hot springs, idyllic islands in the sun, notably Koh Chang and Koh Phayam, and a long coastline bordering the Andaman Sea. The best time to visit Ranong and discover the hidden paradise of the Andaman is between November and May. Go island hopping or to immerse yourself in its magnificent underwater world.
The city centre itself is situated along a historic route and is often described by local residents as “a small town in a big forest”.
Once a tin mining region, the main agricultural activities today are rubber, cashew nut, fruit farming, and fishing.
HIGHLIGHTS AND ACTIVITIES
Interesting attractions and highlights at the festival include:

The Khlong Nakha Wildlife Sanctuary is also situated in Kapoe District, in southeast Ranong.
