Supercar frenzy
THE SWISS MOTOR SHOW WAS ALWAYS ABOUT EXOTIC CARS, SO FORGET ABOUT TREE-HUGGING WHEELS MAKING HEADLINES
FERRARI FF
What is it: itcfrb_The Maranello boys have surprised the world with an all-new ''lifestyle'' successor to the 612 Scaglietti flagship. The four-seat, four-wheel-drive Shooting Brake-style Fezza comes with a 660hp 6.2-litre V12. Like the Lambo, put aside at least 30 million baht.
Why you'd want one: itcfrb_It's a Ferrari after all _ and it ain't too hardcore to drive.
PAGANI HUAYRA
What is it: itcfrb_Italy's new supercar player has built a replacement for the rare Zonda using the same 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12 engine from Mercedes-Benz's AMG high-performance car unit and priced well over 100 million baht.
Why you'd want one: itcfrb_It's another way to use laundered moolah.
KOENIGSEGG AREGA R
What is it: itcfrb_The Swedish exotic car maker has unleashed another speed king using a 5.0-litre bi-turbo V10 and seven-speed dual-clutch auto developing some 1,100hp when boozing with E85 ethanol.
Why you'd want one: itcfrb_As a good garage friend for the Pagani.
DETOMASO DEAUVILLE
What is it: itcfrb_A small group of Italian investors has revived the DeTomaso name plate of the 1970s, and the first application is an alternative to BMW's gawky 5-series GT using either a 300hp V6 or 550hp V8 engine.
Why you'd want one: itcfrb_We really don't know why.
ASTON MARTIN VIRAGE
What is it: itcfrb_Another me-too-looking Aston based on the DB9 and DBS architecture with V12 power, performance and pricing (some 22 million baht) neatly slotted between those two cars.
Why you'd want one: itcfrb_If all you had ever lusted after are Astons ...
LAMBORGHINI AVENTADOR LP700-4
What is it: itcfrb_Probably the most exciting supercar launched in Geneva, the Murcielago replacement sports a lightweight carbon fibre body, 700hp 6.5-litre V12 and an absolutely stunning package. With a 0-100kph time of only 2.9sec, it's among the fastest cars on the planet at the moment.
Why you'd want one: itcfrb_It's the kin of one of the only true supercars left around to drive.
ALFA ROMEO 4C
What is it: itcfrb_Alfa is building a junior 8C next year, albeit with turbo four-cylinder power and a more modern twin-clutch automatic transmission. No word on pricing yet.
Why you'd want one: itcfrb_An exotic Alfa is always a poor man's Ferrari.
