Force India court case against Lotus set for January

The court case between Force India, Aerolab and the Lotus team will not be heard until January 2012.

The case centres on claims that wind-tunnel models being used by aerodynamic company Aerolab in its dealing with Lotus were similar to those used when Aerolab was working with Force India.

Force India said there had been an intellectual property infringement and started proceedings against the Lotus team's parent company, its boss Mike Gascoyne and Aerolab. Gascoyne and Lotus deny any wrongdoing, while Aerolab have issued a counter-claim against Force India over what it says is non payment of outstanding bills.

A press release from Force India said "separate criminal proceedings are currently ongoing in Italy in respect of the wrongful disclosure of confidential information, as a consequence of the filing by Force India F1 Team Ltd. of a complaint with the competent authorities. In respect of these proceedings, articles in the Italian press have recently revealed that Tony Fernandes, Mike Gascoyne and Jean Claude Migeot have been formally charged."
