2012 Chevrolet Aveo in full details
Chevrolet revealed technical details for its new Aveo. The cheapest version costs €9630 Euros with VAT included.
Chevrolet Aveo will debut in Europe in the second half of this year and promises to be one of the most exciting models in its segment. According to Chevrolet, interior and exterior have been completely redesigned, and the chassis and body structure have been developed recently.
The engine range was updated and the model is offered with a six-speed automatic transmission. The engines provide between 70 and 115 horsepower and have a cylinder capacity of 1.2, 1.4 and 1.6 liters.
Only versions with 1.4 liters and 100 hp, 1.6 liters and 115 horsepower on the new Chevrolet Aveo are offered in with an automatic transmission. This diminishes the performance of the two engines, but provides a higher level of comfort in town and long journeys. The diesel version of Aveo – the first time in the segment for the mark – will debut this fall and will be equipped with a 1.3 liter engine, which benefits of Start-Stop, common-rail and variable turbine geometry.
The most economical gasoline engine (called ECOTEC) has a joint consumption of 5.1 liters per cent, a 1.2-liter cylinder capacity developing 86 hp. There is a smaller version of this engine, which develops about 70 hp. The most economic engine prides itself with the lowest emissions in the range – 119 grams of CO2 per kilometer.
For the same level of equipment, there are differences in style and layout of the interior between hatchback and sedan variants. The instrument panel was curved toward the driver’s and front passenger door and the driving position received a design inspired by Chevrolet Corvette, said the officials.
Chevrolet Aveo has two glove compartments, one of which includes a USB port for connecting audio devices. Occupants of the two front seats have three cup holders. All electronic devices installed in the upper glove compartment can be controlled using the buttons on the steering wheel or radio interface. Notchback trunk version (sedan) offers a storage volume of 502 liters, the largest in its class, while the hatchback version – 290 liters. HB version trunk volume goes up to 653 liters with the seats folded. Both versions have a fuel tank of 46 liters. All the engines comply with Euro 5.
“It is an amazing moment to be at Chevrolet: not only do we launch new cars in the MPV and compact class, but Chevrolet Aveo is a brand new car ready to compete with the best in the market segment of small vehicles size, which is the largest in Europe,” said Wayne Brannon, president and CEO of Chevrolet Europe.
