European GP - Ferrari competitive in Valencia free practice

Valencia, 24 June – Fernando Alonso’s Ferrari dominated the second session of free practice for the European Grand Prix, the eighth round of the Formula 1 world championship that began today on Valencia’s street circuit. In front of his home crowd the Spanish driver recorded the best time of the day (1.37.968) ahead of the Lewis Hamilton’s McLaren (1.38.195) and the Red Bull of Sebastian Vettel (1.38.265). The other 150° Italia of Felipe Massa ended the session in 5th place, completing 32 laps with a best of 1.38.443.

Both Ferrari drivers carried out set-up work along with comparisons of the different tyre compounds, medium and soft. The third and final session of free practice gets under way tomorrow at 1100, followed by the all-important qualifying to decide the starting grid at 1400.
