ALMS – Lime Rock an unlucky race

Maranello, 10 July – Toni Vilander and Jaime Melo’s race ended 50 minutes prior to the chequered flag at the third round of the American Le Mans Series, held yesterday at the Lime Rock Park circuit, Lakeville, Connecticut. The Risi entered car had staged a fantastic climb up the order during the first hour of the two and three quarter hour race, but then unfortunately it all came to nothing because of a technical problem on the 458 Italia GT2 and the Houston team thus had to retire before the finish.
Despite the accident in Friday practice which meant they had to start from the back of the grid, the strong pairing of Vilander-Melo managed to climb as high as third, a few seconds off the leader, until the car performance got progressively worse, putting an end to a hard charging performance.

Of the other Ferraris, Scott Sharp and Johannes van Overbeek took their Extreme Speed Motorsports to fifth place and the sister car of Ed Brown-Guy Cosmo finished tenth.
The prestigious American series will be back in action on 24 July with the Mosport Grand Prix in Ontario.
