British GP - Ferrari on top in the Silverstone rain

Silverstone, 8 July – Bad weather disrupted the second session of free practice at the British Grand Prix, that has just finished at the Silverstone circuit. The incessant rain that began to fall within minutes of the green flag led to a reduced session as nearly all the grid preserved the sets of wet tyres they have available for the weekend. The Ferrari of Felipe Massa was top with 1.49.967 ahead of Nico Rosberg’s Mercedes (1.50.744) and the Sauber of Kamui Kobayashi (1.51.395), while the other 150° Italia of Fernando Alonso was only fifth (1.52.869). The Ferrari drivers used the same sets of intermediate tyres that they had used in the morning session. Still to come is the third and final session of free practice scheduled for 1000 tomorrow. Then comes the decisive qualifying session at 1300 that will decide the starting grid for Sunday’s race.
