FDA supports the Italian CSAI Karting Championship

Maranello, 7 July – The Ferrari Driver Academy continues its efforts in evaluating the most promising your drivers in motor sport by promoting an initiative, in collaboration with the CSAI, aimed at the most deserving drivers to emerge from the world of karting, helping them in moving forward in their professional career.

The programme got underway at the race in Viterbo on 3 July and will continue through the second half of the Italian Championship, (Lonato on 7 August, Sant’Egido alla Vibrata on 28 August and Ortona on 2 October. At each round, three young drivers between the ages of 13 and 16 will be given the chance to take a psycho-attitudinal test with the aim of taking part in a Formula Abarth test. A final prize will then go to three of the twelve drivers, who will get a Super Course, lasting four days at the Vallelunga circuit, organised by the Ferrari Driver Academy, in collaboration with the CSAI’s training school. At the Viterbo race, around 160 drivers took part, with three being selected – Gianni Vigorito (15 from Avellino,) Alessio Santilli (16 from Pescara) and Mattia Vita (14 from Lucca.) They distinguished themselves with their performance on track and behaviour off it. Vigorito also made his debut yesterday at Imola as part of a general Formula Abarth test, supervised by Luca Baldisserri, the head of the FDA.

Two other young Ferrari Driver Academy students were also in Imola, Brandon Maisano and Raffaele Marciello who had an intensive training session in preparation for the next of the Italian Formula 3 Championship, which takes place at Santerno on 17 July. Maisano had a good test, finishing third quickest in 1.42.465, while Raffaele Marciello was tenth in 1.43.257.
