2011 British Grand Prix Statfile

Thursday 7th July 2011

Leading up to the ninth round of the 19-race championship, here are the all-important stats and figures.

The British Grand Prix is one of the highlights of the Formula One calendar, not least given the support of the public as a crowd of over 300,000 is expected over the course of the three days.

The Silverstone circuit, following its modified layout for last year's event, will again offer something different for the drivers this weekend.

With the new £27million pit-and-paddock complex in place, it means the start-finish straight has moved, so rather than Copse the first corner will now be Abbey.

* Sebastian Vettel has won six of the eight races this season. It means with 11 grands prix remaining, he is almost halfway to the record of 13 set by Michael Schumacher in 2004.

* In finishing second in the other two races, it means Vettel's start to the season is officially the best in F1 history.

* In the 61 years of F1 just three drivers have won seven races in a year and not won the title - Schumacher (2006), Kimi Raikkonen (2005) and Alain Prost (1988 and 1984).

* Vettel has been on pole seven times this season. In this instance he is halfway to the record of 14 set by Nigel Mansell in 1992.

* With 22 poles to his name, Vettel is eighth on the all-time list. Niki Lauda and Nelson Piquet are next in his sights, with 24 each.

* Vettel has also qualified on the front row for the last 13 races. The record is 24 posted by Ayrton Senna over the 1992-93 seasons.

* The 23-year-old has been on the podium at the last 10 races. Only two drivers have managed more - Alonso had 15 in 2005-06, with the record 19 by Schumacher in 2001-02.

* After their one-two at the European Grand Prix in Valencia, Vettel and Webber have now achieved the feat on 10 occasions. Only Mika Hakkinen-David Coulthard (13), Ayrton Senna-Alain Prost (14) and Schumacher-Rubens Barrichello (24) have more.

* With 12 wins from pole, Vettel is up to eighth in the all-time standings. Schumacher, Senna, Prost, Nigel Mansell, Juan-Manuel Fangio, Jim Clark and Alonso are ahead of him.

* Red Bull are currently on a run of nine successive poles. Only Williams (24 & 10), McLaren (17 & 12), Ferrari (10) and Lotus (10) have achieved more.

* The British Grand Prix is the only event to have been a part of every Formula One world championship.

* Twelve British drivers have won the British GP: Stirling Moss, Tony Brooks, Peter Collins, Jim Clark, Jackie Stewart, James Hunt, John Watson, Nigel Mansell, Damon Hill, Johnny Herbert, David Coulthard and Lewis Hamilton.

* Pole position at the British Grand Prix has generally not been that significant, with only four winners from the last 16 races coming from top spot on the grid.
