Q&A: VITALY PETROV

Here we are at the home race for the team in Silverstone, how does it feel to be back?
It’s our home race for the team so we all hope that everything will go well for us, and we have very good results! Of course, there has been a change of rules so we don’t have after-burn anymore. Also, it’s not an easy circuit to find the right set-up, and the forecast says it will be interesting conditions, there will be rain, it will be dry. Silverstone can always surprise you so we need to put everything together and we try very hard to get a good result.

It’s a new look circuit and it’s a blend of tradition and modernity, are you impressed with it here?
There are not too many big changes. The circuit layout we saw last year, and there is just some little changes to the tarmac and the kerbs. Of course we have a new pitlane, and the pitlane entry is very quick so we will have to see how that works in the race.

It was a disappointing race in Valencia, are you looking to put things right here?
I’ve forgotten already what happened in Valencia and we know exactly what we should do. We’ve analysed with the team so we hope we will not have another weekend like Valencia. We always look forwards and we are here now at Silverstone for this event.

Is this a race you’d particularly like to win?
I would prefer to win everywhere, but as this is the home race for the team I would like to win here especially as it would bring great happiness to my mechanics and crew as they work hard all through the year so any good result here would be a fantastic thank you for them .
